      Personal Growth & Leadership

Every database professional needs to evolve to stay relevant and advance their careers. This is not just about learning Oracle but also expanding one's horizons in other areas.
Under the Personal Growth & Leadership track, the IOUG would like to encourage speakers to present in these three areas:

      1. Professional and Personal Growth. This is communication, listening, leadership, influencing other people, speaking with authority, thought leadership, how to be confident, professional growth and personal growth.
      2. Business Skills. Understanding the business is very important to be able to add more value to the organization. When making decisions what is the business value of making those decisions. Example: The idea of migrating from Oracle to SQL Server should not just be a technical decision and discussion, but also a business decision. Other key areas are creating budgets and reading P&L statements and how this can impact business decisions.
      3. Emerging Technologies. The portfolio of products that the database professional needs to be able to know about and understand is increasing. The objective here is to get an introduction into the technology, not so much a deep dive. A good title for these topics is “All I need to know about X." Some examples of emerging technologies are: Big Query, what is a data pipeline, Kafka, Streaming, Cassandra, etc.

Presentations can be about one of these topics, or a combination of topics.
